Stories of long ago tell tales of a wandering 14th century monk and a dying elephant, a hermit and of villages coming together to build a road to a holy shrine. Combined with the physical aura of the place, these stories weave a magic concoction for northern bound travellers. About 16 kilometers drive away from Doi Suthep temple you see the Hmong Hilltribe people in their colorful costumes. All around their village, they show their agriculture skills, planting many kind of vegetables and fruits replacing their traditional cash crop – the opium poppy. We stop for lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel to relax for the day.
